Full Lace Wig Vs Lace Front...What's the difference?
Are you interested in trying out a wig? Does the terminology confuse you? Have you seen the terms full lace wig and lace front wig? What does that even mean?
Wigs are definitely becoming the new wave as far as protective styling goes...Why you may ask! Because honestly wigs are looking more and more natural these days. The days of the wiggy looking beauty supply store wigs are OVO! Ha no but really. Those days are over. And we are thankful for growth lol.
Now wig shopping is definitely something you should not just rush and do unless of course you are familiar with purchasing different types of wigs etc. Lets start with some wig terminology:
Full Lace Wig: This just means the ENTIRE base of the wig is made of lace. So in other words it will look like your scalp once this wig is parted after it is installed. This also means that you can do styles that require your hair to be parted..like pigtail braids or other half up half down styles. Full lace wigs ARE more expensive! They are hand sewn and unlike other wigs these full lace wigs are not bundles of hair sewn on to a cap.
Lace Front Wig: Unlike full lace wigs lace front wigs only have lace on the front of the wig so basically where the "frontal" would be is where the lace is..so the lace usually measures 13 x 4 which is the standard frontal size. This wig will not look as natural when parted outside of the "frontal" area. Styles like pigtails and half up half down have their limitations when using a lace front wig.
Glueless Wig: A glueless wig just means the wig can be worn without glue to hold it down.
Wig Install: The process of a wig install is where the stylist will "install" your wig. So depending on the stylist your hair will be washed and dried. The wig will need to be customized to your hairline which can be done when it is time to install the wig or in advance..It just depends on your stylists preference. Anyhow, all of your real hair will then be braided down in a flat pattern. A wig cap will then be placed over your braids. After this your stylist will install the wig by either sewing it down or using an adhesive spray like a Got 2 Be Freeze Spray or gel or a glue like Ghost Bond or Lace Grip to secure your wig. Last but not least is the fun part which is styling! And voila just like that your wig has been installed.
Stylists typically charge anywhere from $100-$350 for this wig install. Once the wig has been installed there is no need to take it off every night, in fact you won't want to considering you just spent money getting it put on lol. You will just need to tie down the front at night and make sure the back is protected in a silk or satin bonnet. If you are able to manage and take care pf your weaves and wigs, this wig install could last you up to 4 weeks. Two to three weeks is usually average though.
At Luxcys Hair Co we offer both full lace and lace front wigs. It is really a preference thing when it comes to deciding which one you want. Our wigs are made out of our gorgeous 100% Human Brazilian Hair.
I hope this helped clear up some confusion you may have had regarding wigs!
